What the audit tests
An independent auditor checks that a real safety management system exists and works: risk assessments that are used, not filed; incidents recorded and closed out; responsibilities that people can name.
How to verify a contractor’s claim
bizSAFE status is on a public register. Ask for the certificate, check the level and the expiry, and confirm it on the register before you award the job. A claim you cannot check is worth nothing.
